In how far is something statspadding?

When you go for Basic Knife and meet with a friend, knifing each other, this is statspadding.
But i'm wondering if it is "statspadding" to play on an infantry only server to get your basic/veteran pistol.
There are similar situations. I would like to know what is understand by getting a badge/ribbon "illegal", by "statspadding". In how far is something statspadding?

I think stat padding is not contributing to the team. You and your buddy running off together to stab each other isn't helping the team out. But you can still capture flags and all that by using only knife/pistol, even though it will be more of a challenge. Like me and my buddy were playing in a server together and he was using all knife to try to get his award. He legitimately snuck up on me three times. He ended up getting 5 or 6 total, but I kept mowing him down during the game. I wasn't LETTING HIM get the badge is the point. That's how I see it anyways.

Stat-padding is anything NOT in the regular-line-of-fire. I could go into a huge long speech with very technical and legalistic language, but I won't. If you're getting points for repairing/healing/reviving/resupplying anything NOT as a result of damage from the enemy, or the honest efforts to engage the enemy, its stat-padding.

Just ask yourself: is this how the game is meant to be played? The developers didn't intend to have engineers repairing the eternal damage of Vodniks half-submerged in water. Its alright to fix your Humvee if you ran into a tree or two, but not if you're intentionally hitting the tree in the first place.

I wouldnt consider that statpadding, just a bit off fun. Statpadding is I say when a couple of peaple just kill eachother in a big huddle outside the map and revive and stuff. For the Enitre round.

I actually dont think that knive/pistol/paddle only servers are statpad servers when you just work out the round, I dont argree with servers who say no flag capping, coz that IS statpadding

One question --

What if you are a pilot of a Blackhawk, or driver of a boat, and you're support. Meanwhile, all of the passengers are throwing out explosives, just so you can get resupply points, not knowing that you do not want to stat pad. This has happened to me before, and I did not want it to gain resupply points by 'stat padding'

That's not stat padding if your flying the blackhawk or driving the boat into actual combat situations. By throwing their grenades they are giving away their position to an alert enemy. As for dropping AT mines out of the blackhawk, that can be useful strategy for placing mines in a strategic location from time to time.

stat padding who cares its a game, if ppl wanna get points that way let them. Yea its annoying for the people who play normally, but every1 has the oppertunity to do it. Stat padders r just using it to there advantage

Just for the record here, any server which doesnt allow you to use armor on a map is in violation of the RoE from EA. The server can be shut down for this. Getting pistol is easy though, prone on a roof in karkand and snipe the suckers:P Just have to learn where each pistol aims.

The particular time that happened to me, I had raised the BH up to 400 altitude, and we were over the water for most of the journey (the map was Wake island) so technically, we weren't engaging the enemy at all.

Sometimes you can get lucky by tosssing things out the side. but not very ofter. I certainly wouldn't be doing that over the water at that high of an altitude. Just a waste of ammo and it could give away your position giving some PLA pilot 6 kills for someone being stupid.

Infantry-Only servers are against the BF2RS ROE. It could be considered stat padding, but more importantly it is a violation by the server admin and the server can be shut down.

Sure you where, aslong as you were on your way to engange the enemy. If you just circles the water on wake in a BH at 500 and never went over land the entire round then yes it is.

Yet it just sounded like yall went high to avoid noob jet pilots and AA, and were inbound to some flag. Its accually a good tactic to ahve someone fly a BH at max alt over a flag have everyone in the back chute down cap defend untill people start spawning, then have the bh come down pick em up rinse and repeat.
