Mumble

Dr2B Rudd wrote:

Mumble is a Voice Program similar to teamspeak and ventrillo.

Its an excellent alternative to TeamSpeak because it has higher quality sound and lower latency.

However its best feature is the positional audio, i.e. it locates where you are in game (in BF2, COD4, COD5 and a few others) and positions your voice so it sounds like its coming from your characters position.

Currently it needs some configuring when you install to have an optimal setup, and it has its limitations but this is an Opensource program (in opposition to HARDCODED ) and is continously being developed.
Have you (or has anyone else that's reading this) tried this in-game yet? and with what game(s)?

Is it as good as it makes itself out to be?

Not sure I've used mini. I know it blows the mobile version of IE out of the water.

Works with torrents. That is what the content revolves around. Just a pretty interface.

I also use that, no install needed

btw a bit offtopic but might be helpful to some-i installed Steam and all its games to a separate partition and when I reinstall windows, Steam just updates them without installing them all over again and after several minutes all games are ready to be played. Saves lots of time

That doesn't create a valid .ICO file, it just produces a GIF with the extension .ICO - then windows is kind enough to ignore the nubosity of doing such a thing and displays the GIF anyway.

If you don't believe me. Create a GIF, rename it to a .ICO. Then create a shortcut (to anything), go into the properties of said shortcut and Change Icon... to the .ICO GIF you created.

Yeah, it doesn't work for that. But it works for favicons.

True.

Well sort of.

It assumes that the browser will not look at the extension and just go by the content.

That may not always be the case.
