Poll
Which car should i get?
White (with blue stripes) Ford Falcon XT BA 2003 | 62% | 62% - 25
Red Ford Falcon XT BA 2003 | 37% | 37% - 15
Total: 40 |
Revive.
Still haven't got one yet.
this one popped up and i'm seriously considering it. Its a 2004 Ford XR6 (which is several models up from the BA for the uninformed)
Vehicle: 2004 FORD FALCON BA XR6
Colour: Silver
Interior Colour: Black Leather
Transmission: 4 speed Semi-Automatic
Engine: 6 cylinder Unleaded Multi-point injected 4.0L (3984cc)
Kms: 99000
Price: $14,990*
Price Denomination: AUD
Extras: (these comes standard on XR6's over the base model) Spoiler, 17" Alloy wheels, Upgraded CD player, computer and speakers, upgraded interior, upgraded exterior
The only downside is that it is a private owner which means no warranty from dealership. however that mean i will probably be able to get the price down abit (even though the price is extremely reasonable as these often go for over $16,500)
So opinions please? i would have to travel about 2 hours to check it out/ test drive it. but it looks like a great deal so it is tempting.
EDIT: Pics. (pics are recent as the odometer in one of the pics says 95000

Hey LBJ. The Falcon is a good car, especially if you are covering distance in it.
Things to consider. Try to buy an auto , preferably with as low k's as possible. Considering the amount of them out there, a cheap one will definitely turn up. I dont know which city you live in , so I assume you live in NSW ( playing the odds)
I have found these:
http://ninemsn.carpoint.com.au/used-car … ?State=NSW
http://ninemsn.carpoint.com.au/used-car … ?State=NSW
http://ninemsn.carpoint.com.au/used-car … ?State=NSW
If you can tell me where your home city is , I could possible find others. The above cars are all XR6 s all auto and all well under 100000ks ( which I think is important. Anyway, please tell us how you go , good luck.
Edit: I probably wouldnt buy any of the cars you mentioned in the poll. Red car was a manual ( I love manuals , but not in a car like a Falcon), and the white one had too high K's. The silver one was nice, but the K's were a touch high too.

The stripes and the rims on the white one look kinda chavvy but I'd take them every day over a red car.
tbh Nappy's cars are all a lot better but whatever rocks your boat (a skyline ffs!!! wow)

Oops, guess I dunt read good.LBJ wrote:

Some of these are a touch over $15000 but I am sure they would bargain down a bit. Sorry I couldnt find any from Toowoomba, you may have to take the drive to sunny BrisVegas.
Good luck.
Ok thanks for the link and info!Burwhale wrote:

Think he wants it for around 12-14k dude. 16k is a bit steep for a first car.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
Some of those cars did say "negotiable " in the ad. Cant hurt to ask . Besides paying a bit more money now could save cash in the long run. Its totally up to LBJ though, he could buy a 1980 Sigma for all I care.

The white one looks better imo. However, I think the most important question is what would you rather drive? An automatic or a stick?
Well thats an easy question.FrankieSpankie3388 wrote:

Don't drive too good.

Probably get the one with lower km, although you're looking at a timing belt change and a new clutch within the next 40-50,000 kms. Manual is better fuel economy and lower kms, even though it doesn't look as cool. However something with a V6 deserves a manual gearbox just because it's more fun to drive.
This is coming from someone who recently bought a manual car without knowing how to drive one.

Don;t blow your inheritance on a car dude. Put half in a savings accoutn and use the rest on what you want. My GF just got $17G from an inheritance fund for her 18th, and gets another $17+G for her 21st. She just bought a little Mazda 121 for $3.5G. It exactly what she needs, its great on fuel and in great condition, she can upgrade in the future and now she has got more money to spend on other things and still be able to save most of it.
The inheritance is actually $50,000... im only using $10,000 of it.Adams_BJ wrote:
