planning on building new rig, i havent keeped up with the videocards so thus i need your input. PLanning a Corei7 build and running 2x (1920 x 1200) monitors. Only want a single card.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. It's where 295's are going to show the most improvement over other cards.
if his budget can swallow GTX 295, there is no point in recommending slower card, the HD4870x2....
