This is sorta a game, but it really is something that tests ones memory. I did this in my psychology course recently and it is pretty hard, and somewhat amazing.
What to do:
1.) Go to http://bcs.worthpublishers.com/myersinmodules/
2.) Click on PsychSim Modules (Located on the left side of the screen in the light blue area)
3.) Click on Iconic Memory then from there click on Free recall task
4.) Read the description if you want, then click next on the bottom of the page to begin. It goes really quick so focus. The first part is pretty easy, everyone should do fine on that. The 2nd part gets harder as you see all the letters, but you have to recall one line from the 3 lines. The 3rd part is the hardest because it delays what line you will see. You will find this once you do the game.
What happens in this game, according to Sperling, your brain stores all nine letters in the memory for a short time, but your memory fails so quickly that you can only remember a few letters. As you go through the 2nd and 3rd part of the game you will notice that with the delayed timing it will be much harder to recall the letters.
Post your very first time.
On my first try in class I scored 49% on the free recall task, 46% on the cued recall task, and a whopping 26% on the delayed cued recall task. As I did the game more and more, my scores improved.
Good luck to everyone! Post your first scores
