I’m sure this has been mentioned before but I have a little experience I want to recount

I was playing on a general pub server the other day EA UK and was on Wake Island, I have a buddy on and we were aiming to take the attack chopper for the round. As the round starts the usual asset sprint begins and my buddy gets in as pilot and I arrive in bronze position and miss my seat. Said buddy and me are on TS and I say wait a sec while I ask if..... and no sooner had I said and hit my key to type the guy hops out and says, you 2 take it!?!?!?!?!? People on Comms work better in this thing anyways! He runs off jumps in the hawk and sets off into the distance…

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot – this is not the usual behaviour I find on any server… EVAR.

I typed big thanks and promised a seat in the next round if he wanted to take it.
I think it says a lot about the calibre and character of someone on an online game that can hop out even before they are asked if they would mind.

I can’t remember the guys name but if I ever do come across it I will dedicate one entire round to keeping him alive with as high a K/D as possible.

Anyone else experienced anyone doing anything similar?

Kooda

P.S sometimes its nice to remember the little positive things that make online gaming great!

Yeah I've had this a few times on the EA UK servers, I've not seen you on them. How often do you play on them? I'm always on them, believe it or not they're my favourite servers and you get some good players on them although lack of admin is sometime annoying.

When I first started playing, I ran up to a chopper to find it loaded.  The pilot must have said something to the copilot, (the gun turned to face me)  The copilot asked if I was any good at gunner yet, I replied in the negative. Then he jumped out and the pilot offered a training session.  I was a lowly sgt. at the time, yet this "nice guy" took me under his propeller (I'm so punny) and showed me the ropes of gunner.  Couldn't thank that guy enough.

Whenever I'm profecient in piloting, I'll do the "pay it forward" thing and teach someone else.  To bad we don't see stuff like this more often.

why dont i met those friendly people? what am i doing wrong?
i almost always FORGIVE teamkills, except when some n00bhead shots me out of  "his" plane, or something like that.
i do hop out if they just ask me, when we are in an chopper and 2 buds want the heli.
i do not run in front of enemy vehicles.
and i hate public EA servers they are so full of n00bs, every time i hop into an public server, i get sooo many TKs from idiots thta jump  in front of my plane... most of the time they do it woth 4 people, and with their finger glued tot the "page down"  button i get instantly kicked,..

yeah, I get that a lot. If I get bored and just about to leave, I play a few blocks of c4 on the Jet huddle and blow them all up and get kicked whilst laughing my ass off.

Something like this happened to me the other day too. A teammate and I arrive at an APC at the same time. He paused to let me in first.... I about dropped to the floor.... I let him take it because I had never seen another player do that. I hopped in for a not so long ride. Apparently he was letting me go first because he was a noob. But still!

I was playing two nights ago on a 32player Sharqi Map (20 player server), and we were very short of players (4 per side).
The round lasted over a hour and a half, but it was fun the whole time. Not just for me because I received my Expert Eng on the map that round, but I was enjoying the people mostly. 6 of them were from the same clan, and were ok with being split across the two teams. There was friendly text communication across teams when someone was KIA (things like advice / how to avoid the situation, lol's for good pwnage, and so forth). I would play with them again anyday!

I don't recall the clan name right now (oneX something), but I added their server to my favorites, so I'll edit this when I get home from work.

The same was with the guy on my favorite victim list now (Kodiak on the BattleBrothers clan). He helped teach me some heli tricks before the game had enough players, then we went head to head... it was just luck that he was the Fav victim, but I appreciated his help, and consider him to be a better person for his attitude.

I see that kind of behavior a lot actually. I play on a server with a lot of regulars, some of us who play only on this server. As a community develops, people learn respect for other players that they see on a routine basis, and get to know what they are good at. More times than I can count, I've had people jump out of a chopper my buddy was already in, because they know how well we crew it together. People have many times jumped out of a jet just so I could take it, without me even asking at all, just because I'm known in the community as a good pilot.

It is somewhat rare to happen with a completely unknown person, but not impossible. At times I've just asked the heli gunner to get out, a guy I've never seen before, so my friend (who I work well with) can get in, and they oblige me.

And then there are the 12 year old vehicle hogs, that don't care about any of all that, and will even TK you to get the vehicle they want, regardless of the fact that they'll probably crash less than a minute later.

I have played with and against you on the nGs server a few times.  think there was one time when we were opposition snipers and killed each other a few times. started playing on the nGs server before it changed to bloodbath. good server though, enjoy playing with the nGs team guys and against them.

on the issue of the guy giving you the place, i will do that at times if i can tell that the two guys waiting on the chopper are abviously together and are working well. i dont see the point in disrupting the good team work by taking a place when i can not talk to the pilot.

i wish more people would do this because there are times when myself and my mates are wanting time as a pair in the chopper but someone gets in and doesnt do a good job.

I can't say I've ever noticed folks do it for me, but many many times, I'll give up a vehicle for someone else.  I'm mostly on foot or in a transport anyway, so I try to let the folks that love tanks, planes, and choppers have their fun.   I've even stopped and got out of a vehicle when I was passing someone that I knew was a helluva armor user.  Vehicle delivery like that isn't something I see too often.  Hell, I'll deliver choppers if it looks like it might help the team.

Who knows, maybe the next time they decide to play infantry, that armor/plane/helo whore join my squad and I can show them something about taking more unusual routes instead of charging in full-steam.

Lately, I've been trying to learn to fly or be a gunner online (it just isn't the same in SP mode).  I've never had anyone offer to teach me flying/gunner skills, but will happily accept should it ever happen.

If I am not playing with my friends, I am trying to pick up skills such as flying / improving my TV missile. I'll pick you up dude! Consider it a "pay it forward" sort of thing.

I'm a pretty friendly guy. For example, today I had a sliver of health, and I was calling for a medic. A medic runs up to me, looks at me for literally 10 seconds, while I ask him in chat for a bag. After seemingly pondering this use of "english" and "text" he turns and runs away at sprint without saying anything.

He is the only medic within 3 flags of me. I pull out my pistol and double tap his head. Pick up the kit, med bag myself, revive him, and go on my merry fucking way with -2 to earn on my next kill no problem.

Moral of the story? I am an "awesome" team player just don't be a dick or I'll have to shoot you in the head. Anyways, this relates to the main post, because people tend to repay people in kind. As the OP said, if someone gave up a seat for him, he would be 9000% more likely to give up a seat for you next time. It pays to be nice and fair to everyone!

Unless you don't give me a medbag. BITCH!

Hey Zenmaster, been seeing you a lot the past couple days in the Insomnia365 24/7 Sharqi.  Boy, you sure do like your PKM--why did you bother pulling out the pistol, out of curiosity?  Humiliate the crappy medic?

I "deliver" vehicles in a way.  I know I totally blow with APCs/tanks, and I'll only take them if no one's around and they're at risk of falling into enemy hands.  Then whenever I pass infantry I'll say "Hop in!" and once someone gets in, I exit.

Yeah giving up seats is something im aware of. I do it and will always type my ty's if somebody jumps out to let one of my squad in, usually buggy or jeep.

I can imagine how grateful you were with this fella giving up his chopper seat, I rarely travel by air in this game.

funny incident last night between mikeshw, the heart attack and myself.
we were on karkand and spawned at the usmc uncap.
mikeshw and myself spawned but there were no vehicles so we hoof it into town.
moments later THA spawns with the tank and offers us a ride, seeing as there is only 1 spot available,
i ask mikeshw to take it but he was also being gracious and offered it back to me.
so during this back and forth offering, THA is stuck crawling away behing us in the tank.
when its finally decided that mikeshw would take the seat, he turns to face THA only to be run over and TKed by the tank rumbling along 2 feet behind him!

^^ haha i hate getting killed by a vehicle with no one in it. Especially when you have just traveled the full length of the map, jump out of the vehicle but get caught between it and a wall!

yeh but to make it worse he punished me and started a vote kick, then spammed the comms with things like

"heart attack is hacking everyone kick him" and " heart attack wants me to stat pad with him"
