Just looking at the news and seen that TV licence fees are going up in the UK, what interested me is do you or do you know anyone with a B&W TV ?

I still find it so odd when you guys talk about TV licenses. I heard they even have a van that goes around and can detect when some one is not in compliance.

Seems so strange.

Its because a whole two channels have public funding cos they dont use adverts. Therefore we have to pay for the pleasure of watching them, even though they use adverts on their worldwide channels!

Altho if you can prove u dont watch them you can not pay the license

At the OP: nope I havent seen one in about 10 years

Because it pays for the BBC and the BBC alone. And the BBC is a very large global organisation as you probably well know.

I have a b+w tv, it's portable and you can wind it up and it runs for about 10 minutes without winding. It's pretty neat.

TV License is per household. I must add, the TV license is the only source of income for the BBC. No advert revenue goes to BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/info/policies/advertising.shtml. Tho i have read something about ad revenue going to BBC Worldwide but i don't exactly.

Therefore, BBC has no breaks during programmes. And they have to be very fucking careful of what they broadcast!
