QFT they followed the novel very well ( except for a few things like the newsstand and kid reading comic weren't part of the storyline:( )

Definitely buying it when it comes out. Epic win in my books.

One of the best quotes in the book as well (obviously). Although, I'm still very disappointed that they removed the burning of the child killer thing and replaced it. The whole idea behind it was that Rorschach was going to make him suffer. A quick cleaver chop to the head does not make someone suffer (I'd assume...).

Sooooo good. Great plot, jumped around a bit but I still caught on to what was happening. Some fucking awesome scenes (jail).
Wasn't a huge fan of the ending but overall it was so well done. Time Well Spent.
Get comic. Profit.

Have you watched the motion comic?

It's very good. It is equivalent to reading the comic.
Some of the torrents for it are massive.

And I'd rather get the original first.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.

I dunno, it was too... weird for me. I thought it would be awesome you know, Vietnam war and all. And they scene with the helicopters was amazing. But as it got into them floating down river it just got to psychedelic for me I suppose.
Ya its not exactly a conventional war film.  I think of it as more of a psychological thriller or whatever, set during the Vietnam war.
Its actually based on a book

Joeseph Conrad's "Heart of Darkness".  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heart_of_Darkness
The reason I know that interesting fact is becuase we had to suffer through the book in English class, but then we got to watch Apocalypse Now so it was all good.

And I give the movie a 9/10

Watchmen - 7.5/10

It was a decent movie if a bit long.  Couldn't grasp why Dr. Manhatten was either wearing a banana hammock or nothing at all most of the movie, but whatever.  Story jumped around a bit too much for my liking but the visuals were incredible and the movie was shot fairly well.  I thought the ending was a bit weak and I think it ended far too quickly (2+ hours of story and a 15 minute climax?  C'mon!), but all in all one of the better movies I've seen lately.  Lots of gore and some titty shots too!

Watchmen 9/10

Very good. Not anywhere near as good as the comic or the animated motion comic (which was outstanding - pretty much a cell by cell recreation of the graphic novel), but still a superb film. The new ending was a bit disappointing - I much preferred the original.

It's individual episodes. Each of which takes about 10 mins to download.

You can get it on iTunes or suchlike. I can't condone torrenting something so awesome....

Spoiler (highlight to read):
A lot of my friends didn't like the squid ending and thought it basically came out of nowhere and didn't follow a lot of how the graphic novel had run. I dunno if I like the new ending having Dr. Manhattan take the blame, though.

I disagree. I think the new ending was overly predictable and the whole thing has been dumbed down.

Grabbed ch1 yesterday. Watched it this morning. Pissed off because downloading the rest could take a while thanks to my crappy internets.

What I saw was good though. 'Dropped him down an elevator shaft.'

Well of course it was predictable.  You read the book....

I mean, what the hell was the squid?  That was the only criticism I had with the book.  There were maybe 2 or 3 frames of the island seen with a guy drawing a picture, and the Comedian apparently saw it from an airplane or something and that's what made him crack.... meh

Then the USA and USSR unite to fight against.... aliens?  What?  There was only one and it already died in New York.  At least in the film they united to fight something tangible (Dr. Manhattan)

just my opinion of course.  But I definitely preferred the films ending.  Doing the squid would've required another 15-30 minutes and caused way too much confusion.  From a filming standpoint at least.
