I was wondering how exactly you can record a phone conversation with your computer if you're using a vonage line connected via your DSL/Cable line. I'm having a mechanical issue with a generator and I believe the people who worked on it f**ked it up, and would like to record their statements when I ask about it and get a second opinion from another technician.

Thats legal right? lol, i dunno.

They make personal call recorders that hook to your phone, regardless of what type of service you use.

As to whether it is legal depends on the local laws in your area.

Granted, out of your price range, I'm assuming, but still is a neat little box.

Anyway, yea, you might be able to splice into the headset wire...

Recording someone without their knowledge is illegal, so you could get yourself in deep trouble doing that. Just be careful.
Not in the state of iowa. I think its called single person consent. Where if I am the one recording MY conversation with someone it is legal. It's not the same for all states though.

I have a vonage line, and that is hooked up to a linksys router, which is hooked up to a netgear router which is then hooked up to my modem! So, the vonage is through my dsl line...I wonder how I can tap into that and hook it up to my computer to record? Maybe?

Radio Shack used to carry a suction cup thingy, with a mini plug on the other end that plugged into your cassette recorder for about $9.99. Check Best Buy if you have one locally, or you might be able to find one at Wally world.

If you can find one, just plug it into your mic jack on your pc, use MS sound recorder, profit?
