OCing my e8500, is it stable :o?

CPU:E8500 (E0 stepping) @ 3945GHz, 1.28 vcore (with vdroop it seems) 9.5multi x 415
COOLER: Xigmatek dark knight s1283v
RAM: OCZ reaper HPC DDR2 1066mhz (@ 1107mhz, 2.2v 5-5-5-15 EPP)
CASE:Really loud antec 300 (all fans installed (120mm tricool, 140mm tricool), 3x 120mm thermaltake thunderblades (A1926, 2k RPM, 78CFM)
PSU: Corsair 650TX
GPU: MSI 9800GT OC (minor OC)

FSB strap 400mhz

FSB-414mhzQDR(x4=1656mhz) memory is at 553MHzx2

25% OC total,VID in bios says 1.30625 (manual adjustment) PLL is 1.5v and the rest is auto set (I don't know all the values)

stock VID is 1.25, speedstep off C1E off

also bios is version 1613 (latest IIRC)

temps seem stuck (core 2=38C, core 1 =33C @ idle) CPU reports 22C idle though, motherboard 25C idle

it's installed and run multiple programs and hasn't crashed or BSOD, is it stable?

mobo also didn't set it right on first boot (2.4ghz ftl 6x multi 400 fsb)

sorry if i'm asking too much , need to get these numbers right (damn P5Q pro OCing capability)

Run Orthos with a blend test for 24 hours, and if you get no erroes you're stable. Panzer helped me overclock my 8500 to 4.13Ghz and this is what he told me to do.

And use a temp monitering program to see how high the cores go under full load.

I'm not sure what you mean but the P5Q/P45 chipsets overclocks great, everyone here would agree with that.

just ran orthos for a minute

so far it seems both cores hit 50C under full load or thats what they're reporting under real temp/everest ultimate, they hit 33C and 38C once again at idle

what I meant about the P45 is it's too damn good

tbh I have seen IBT go though always but crash withinh 20 mins of Orthos. Or 24H prime stable but crahs in IBT.

IBT tests pretty much only CPU. You need prime95 to test the ram, cpu, board combination differently.

In this case there is no doubt OCZ reaper wouldn't do 1107MHz at 5-5-5-15 though, and the board should be stable with those FSB speeds at any voltage

Prime95 puts some load on everything. Linpack is designed to use as many of the available instructions at the same time as possible, thus testing every single part of the processor. Not a transistor is left out.

And there's a nice setting for RAM allocation in LinX. Put that to as high as possible, and it will stress your RAM and board a lot, too. If a system goes through either but not the other, it's simply not stable, and the results are inconclusive.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

core was hitting 60C with linx and like 6 browser windows and everest/real temp (100% usage x2)

not 100% how to use linx so I won't, looks way too complex for me atm+feeling lazy

I have seen IBT with max ram allocation go though but fail in prime. and other way. IBT isn't 100% fool proof in that part. Although its usually stable in normal use....

currently running small FFTs in orthos prime, temp is hitting 54C/52C, CPU 47C, while with the browsers etc

**about 4-5 minutes 0 errors 0 warnings full load for 4 tests

Test 1, 800000 Lucas-Lehmer iterations of M172031 using 8K FFT length.
Test 2, 800000 Lucas-Lehmer iterations of M163839 using 8K FFT length.
Test 3, 800000 Lucas-Lehmer iterations of M159745 using 8K FFT length.
Test 4, 800000 Lucas-Lehmer iterations of M157695 using 8K FFT length.
Torture Test ran 4 minutes 0 seconds - 0 errors, 0 warnings.
Execution halted.

(like that with both cores/threads)

so far it seems good, but I am not 100% sure

also real temp reports max temp 62C-63C during the linX excursion, which I probably incorrectly configured
