Ok, I'm having a problem with my PC and I'm not sure whether its my mouse or the actual PC. It's kinda hard to explain but I'll do my best. I'm often getting stuck on auto scroll (the circle with the two arrows in it) and need to shake my mouse around, sometimes several times in order to get it to a normal cursor. This would suggest its the mouse.

But the actual cursor won't change when I hover it over a clickable thing. It should turn into the pointing hand but it stays as the normal cursor unless I shake it around a bit, leading to think it might be software. EDIT: It also won't make a button (such as the X button on a tabbed window) highlight when I hover over it, as if the window isn't even picking it up.

It has been happening since yesterday after I restarted my computer. I have restarted it a few times since then.

I can hear something rattling in the mouse too, even though it hasn't been dropped. Its a G7.

Have you tried a driver update then?

Is it possible to update firmware on Logitech mice also?

Well I cant seem to find a driver for it, just the software I have.

And that would be Setpoint? That would include the drivers for your mouse, but i'm not sure if you can update the actual firmware within the mouse itself. Like you can on Razer products.

What OS do you have? 32 or 64 bit? There certainly are new drivers for the G7.

Edit: For the record, sounds like software to me. Try using it with another computer.

I updated my drivers and it seems to have sort of helped. Still some problems though every now and then, hardware issue?

Try using it with another computer... don't worry about the drivers on that one.

The same

EDIT: I have come to the conclusion that it thinks it is on the desktop. I have rocket dock and if I go mouse down to the bar down the bottom it appears over the window as if I am mousing over it on the desktop. That would explain it not clicking on things or highlight things while still being able to move the cursor with no issue.

I'm sure there is a setting for rocketdock to keep it behind or on top of windows you have open, could that be the problem? Also, maybe re-install rocketdock, do you use any docklets too?

Thing is, i used to have all sorts of random issues when i used an MX1000 with setpoint and ever since i changed to Razer mouse and software, it's never replicated any problems i had when setpoint was installed.

But i also use rocketdock, and yes that has been buggy now and then.

I have it set up to always be on the bottom, and in all the months I've had its never played up, and I was more using that as an example for having windows up as anything. O probably should have used the example of me being able to drag a selection box and right click menu on my desktop and not being able to click on the windows button without a shake, if that makes sense.
