I have no real information to go on so making a judgement on what they should have done would be kind of stupid...and I have never been in a situation like that either.

For all we know the cop could of done something that pushed the guy into attacking him.

Can't say as the video is poor and incomplete.

I will say however, if you engage in combat with someone that is armed you should expect to get shot/stabbed. If you are armed and someone attacks you, your own weapon may be taken and used against you. Police have done it before, get in a struggle with an officer and you might get shot, even if you are not armed. Police f*ck up (everyone does eventually), no doubt about that, but fist fighting in the street is rarely the solution.
