After having my 8GB Itouch for a little over a year now, I figured I would jailbreak it.  I currently have the 1.1.5 version and have a couple questions:  What do I do? What program should I use (iLiberty, Ziphone, etc...)?  BSD subsystem or Cydia (I barley know what they mean)? Will all of my songs be deleted from the Itouch?  Do I need to create a backup file for my Itouch on my computer? 

I used the searched tool and saw some outdated stuff so i decided to create a new topic and I searched the web but just wanted to see if you guys could help cause I don't want to ruin the itouch.   Also, if any one could find videos or directions to jail breaking the itouch, it'd be clutch.  Thanks.

i used ziphone but remember almost nothing as it was done last may.

i recall it was so so easy. like turn it on, run the proggy, turn it off, turn it on. works.

some shit like that lol

i successfully jailbroke, with ziphone, my ipod touch but since the firmware, was 1.1.5, there were no apps that were compatible.  I then changed the firmware to 1.1.4 but was still unable to download ("package download fail"...).  I then decided to restore my ipod touch, losing all 900 songs and reverted to 1.1.5 again. 

Now, for all of you guys who have jailbroken the ipod touch, what firmware do you have  and how did you download the apps ( i mean if it didnt work normally what did you have to do) and should i just upgrade to 2.1 or 2.2 from itunes? Thanks.

Edit:  Also, do i have to upgrade to 2.0 before i go to 2.1 if i have 1.1.5?  Or can i go straight to 2.1 or 2.2?

I used ziphone on my first iPhone and then Winpwn for my second iPhone due the 2.0 firmware.  I recommend Winpwn, it allows you to rewrite the apple firmware and customize EVERYTHING. ITs dope.

No, back when I unlocked my second phone Ziphone wouldn't work with 2.0 firmware.  Winpwn allows you to edit teh firmware version you are going to install on teh device.  So you can use any version.
