GTA says more about the player than it does about the game industry.


It gives you the choice to do terrible things. Sure the story mode has some messed up stuff in it but beating people to death with dildos and such = a players choice.


My favourite example is Deus Ex. You are told first to minimise casualties and that you are a cop by one of the NPCs. Then your 'orders' come in as shoot to kill.


The choice is left to you, the gamer. Shoot to kill or not. You can finish the game by killing under 10 people if you want. The moral choice is yours to make.

Exactly.
Anderson was careful to point out that this did not necessarily mean that everyone who played violent videogames would begin committing violent acts. Rather, violent games made players more prepared to think aggressive thoughts.
