I installed two WD Black sata drives in my computer, and it loads BF2 fast and shit, but when I try and open up folders, it kinda lags, takes longer then it should, and flickers my screen sometimes. Also, the HDD LED light is constantly flashing ever so slightly, even when my computer is idle so I think.

This was my first time installing sata drives, so maybe I did something wrong...

Specs:

AMD A64 3700+
Gigabyte GA-K8NF
G.Skill DDR400
2x WD Black 640gig
XP Pro

Ya, indexing was on, it said, 'allow indexing for fast file searching' so, thats only for when i click and use search, but it doesn't effect the speed of loading file folders? So I'll turn it off then.

Cat, how do i access the page file settings?

edit: ok i found the page file, so my page file is on C: which windows is installed on, should I run the page file on my other WD drive then? My storage?

found these tutorials... before i typed it all out...lol
vista

and XP

There is some debate over performance benefits from putting your page file on another drive or partition...
I have had good results... you can always change it back to let windows manage it...

and here is a good link on turning off unnecessary services...

i also recommend turning off things 1 or 2 at a time... then if you have any issues you know which thing it was that needs to be back on...

and always be careful... reformat and reinstall isnt a lot of fun... a little fun but not a lot...lol
