Provide some Economical or any other types of tips on how to fight this recession/depression?
I could be totally wrong, But aint just "Ignoring" the whole recession and doing what you always did the best way, like stop stockpiling your money and just spend like you would have done in 07 for example...
fight some big wars
easy. WW2 has lessons to offer:

And so on...
Rationing your consumption in seems like the best way to survive and not lose your house. Of course this does not mean do not spend any money. It has to flow to get out of recession, these are just ways to keep yourself from running out of money to spend.
If you meant in the broader sense, the questions has been tackled a thousand times on these forums. I suggest we steer it in this direction if it wasn't intended to go this way anyways.

That's what's good for the whole, not the part.Roger Lesboules wrote:

Sure that if you might lose your job it might not be a wise move. But stockpiling your money is not the way to go afaik. But again, im no economy expert...Flaming_Maniac wrote:

If you are totally heartless and have a cat or dog that isn't fixed you could breed them and sell the puppies or kittens for lab testing.
The best way to beat it is to turn off the TV during the news hour!
If I turned off my TV, I wouldn't know the world is in crisis! Interest rates dropped which means I have an extra $300 a pay in my pocket and a secure job. The Aussie dollar fell, thereby increasing our export earnings at work by 25%. Life is good!
Oh, I did read the other day that one of our financial institutes has had a really bad year and only posted $450,000,000.00 profit, poor bastards.
So yeah, turn off the doom and gloom.

I totally agree about the TV part...if most of the people didnt knew we were entering this crisis, would the crisis have took place at all. Im pretty sure is some well know reporter and such say that the economy is getting better it will indeed get better.VspyVspy wrote:

1.Just whisper in the ear of a stock broker that you heard things are looking much much better and the time for huge investments in stocks is NOW.blademaster wrote:

2.Call the local news station and tell them you heard a rumour from a stock broker that the time for heavy investments in the stock market is NOW.
3.Put on your best suit and sit down for a coffee at Wall Street, take out your phone and talk a little louder than normal ... Hey Steve it's me, did you hear the latest rumour ... the brokers are trading like mad ... you gotta hurry into the market again if you wan't to make the big bucks ... what? ... of course I'm sure ... this is just like the last time when the market skyrocketed ...
4.Watch the coffee shop empty faster than a cat with mustard in its ass ...

The antiques roadshow actually shows repeats because it is a British show we don't get to see the newer episodes.Nappy wrote:

You've been watching Old Antique Roadshows.

So what was the thing they valued at $1 million? (I only saw the add and am curious)~Smokey~ wrote:

Buying shares is about as useful to the economy as savings.Varegg wrote:

As an individual I'd refinance any debt. Don't overspend (go into more debt) but continue to purchase things you want. If you have the cash consider buying investment property, they not only should be devalued a lot, but potential renters should have increased.
As the government spend big in infrastructure. Fix or build new roads, rail, sewage, bridges etc etc. Anything to increase 'low skilled' jobs and get the mining and manufacturing businesses working again.
What varegg said is completely true. The markets go by what has been heard. If everyone starts hearing that shares are going to go up, they start attempting to buy those shares. The laws of supply and demand dictate that this will cause the share prices to go up, fitting in with the rumours. Increasing share prices will present firms and banks with more capital and help ease the liquidity crisis. The only problem atm is the high levels of skepticism in the markets.DrunkFace wrote:

Don't save. I know it's paradoxical but the only way we are getting out of this is by spending. Don't start putting money away - do that when we are booming.
