Intel plans to launch new desktop PC processors while reducing some models' prices in April, May and July this year. Average price reductions will be around 10-20%, according to sources at motherboard makers

AM3 is still a better deal faster cheaper DDR3 and am2+ backwards compatible

AMD's so cheap that I easily jump at them for business machines, but until they crawl back on top like they did with the Athlon 64, it's Intel for me.

I don't know about AM3, but I still recommend Athlon X2's to people looking for a budget computer. They're cheap as dirt and can still handle moderate multitasking. They're more than enough for your typical grandparent or computer illiterate person.
