AMD's so cheap that I easily jump at them for business machines, but until they crawl back on top like they did with the Athlon 64, it's Intel for me.

I don't know about AM3, but I still recommend Athlon X2's to people looking for a budget computer.  They're cheap as dirt and can still handle moderate multitasking.  They're more than enough for your typical grandparent or computer illiterate person.
