Yea... It sucked. Wasn't as bad as i thought, but it sucked. So im joining the National Guard so i can finish highschool and go to college then re-enlist as an officer, but anyways.
Day 1 - My recruiter took me to the MEPS station (Fort Gillum), i got a ton of paper work. I went back took my asvab and waited in a room for about 2 hours to get my results. After that i took a bus to the hotel, got there, met my room mate. The room mate was chill which i was cool cause everyone was telling me my roomie would be an asshole and wouldnt let me sleep. I went down ate some dinner and then proceeded to go down to the little military headquarters at the bottom of the hotel and we played poker and stuff. So yea i got back up to my room at 11:50pm and slowly fell asleep waiting for the morning.
Which came quick
Day 2 - I woke up at 3:30 (30 minutes ahead of schedule) instead of 4am when everone else woke up. I went down stairs ate some breakfast and shortly afterwards they lined us up to get on the buses. For some reason i was in the lead group and i dont know why. But it made the process faster so im not complaining. I got to MEPS around 5am and we had a short briefing. From there we took various physical tests such as hearing, sight, bloodwork, physical, duck walk and such. I'm red and green color blind so my MOS list went from like 40 to 3. I selected my MOS after that, which is 68W. Thats a combat medic which is connected to a unit either out in combat or safely behind our lines. So yea that fucking sucked. After i signed my contract i talked to my recruiter and he picked me up and i went home. Now i leave for basic training this summer at Fort Jackson South Carolina. Then my AIT training is next summer out in texas.
tl;dr - I am now a combat medic for the National Guard.
It was a good experience
