I need a new CPU for socket 755 and FSP 1066MHz
I was looking at E7400, but is there anything better?

EDIT: Current mobo's so shit so I need a new mobo too. So any CPU and mobo combo for ~200€

Hmm... ~150€ would be nice but up to 200€ max if really necessary
Might need to buy a fan for it also since everyplace I've looked seems to have only non-boxed models. Doesn't those come with only the chip?

Non boxed models (OEM) only come with the chip. You could probably pick up an E8400 (3GHz) and a Freezer 7 Pro for 200 euros max.

Although I heard the new coolers are semi decent.

That's FSB1333MHz http://www.lapstore.net/store/product_i … s_id=12310
Or is there a 1066 version too somewhere?

I'm sure that would work wouldn't it? Clarify with the tech junkies tbh.

Probably not would be nice to know what his mobo is though.
Edit: Just in case you can flash your bios to accept 1333hz processors.

Crap, just found this http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func … incat_no=1
My mobo doesn't seem to support anything "good" that's still available. Guess I have to save same more and buy a new mobo as well

These good?
MSI P35 NEO-F
E8400

And as a side note, how many times can WinXP be activated before it doesn't work anymore?
Had to activate it again after I installed a new GPU (WTF?) so it'll probably ask to do it again after the new mobo and CPU.
If it still lets me.

Wait for "MSI mobos sucks", it's coming soon.

I have E8400 and I'm happy with it.

E8400 OC's like a god. I've got it running at 4 GHz without a problem.

I'd say OEM if it asked to activate after new hardware.

I read it as after a reinstall after CPU change (but only 'cos I generally find change of CPU=reinstall of windows)...

But you could be right...

E8400 is awesome. They clock like champs

MSI is terrible. Get an Asus or Gigabyte board. One of our Finns can link you to a cheap one

You'll have to reformat if you're swapping CPUs, unless you manage to wipe the chipset drivers and other drivers properly, which can be a real skutter. Better to back up, install your new hardware, and reformat.

That looks good. What's the difference between P5Q SE and SE/R?

PSU: 500W
GPU: 9800gt
RAM: 3GB (Could use only 2GB with the new mobo since 2 sticks are 533MHz and 2 are 800MHz)

I dont think that cpu comes with a fan could be wrong cant read the site but that cost 183 so hopefully you can use your current heatsink.
Edit: Is your case designed to take a mATX mobo
