I know there are a lot of peoples here who loved the early patches, I'm one of them. 2 years ago they all died.
However, 2 weeks ago I went to check http://www.game-monitor.com/search.php? … p;game=bf2

Lo and behold, in the evening (Europe) there's an average of 130 peoples playing there.
2 Servers are ranked (not through EA) which you are able to see at http://bf2.me/
Hopefully more players will join us!

There are a few 1.4 servers although I have been kicked for stupid reasons.

You do know that bf2 after 1.12 changed dramatically gameplay wise? You'll love it when you'll play sometime.

Stuff off the top of my head:
- Jumping AND shooting at the same time
- C4 throwing (it would go ~20 feet)
- Clay/mines always ff on
- Dolphin diving (proned in mid air) without any delays
- ATA missiles weren't so easy to use (there was a patch, probably 1.12-1.4 era, where ATA practically never missed)
- Longer TV missile range

Probably missing a bunch of stuff, but overall the earlier versions demanded more skill.

There are 2 64 player severs with ranked system. In the evening both are filled. It still is a brilliant game. If we could just get more people to set up servers that would be great.

I remember 1.0 when 200 players (MAX) were online, look at it now: 1000+ min.

I don't recall blowing myself up.
However I do recall wannabees blowing NOT ONLY themselves but 4 team-members with them!
They have not disappeared, which is always good for a laugh.

i think your right. i remember CTD patch when i would stare at the map load screen for about 1.5 min only for the damn game to throw my ass back to windows. i mean how does ea and DICE make a patch that breaks the game completely in half. patches fix problems and create more, but 1.3 fix a couple of problems and made one BIG problem.

@Myke, my ping is pretty bad, but who cares! Make sure you reinstall it, you'll be hooked once again.

EDIT: Btw, by strongly admined I mean, sound rules which make it much nicer to play:

No Jet blocking
No carrier artillery
No commanders flying
No glitching.

Those are the main ones..
