First off: No, I am not pirating! I own these games legally and I'm simply backing them up.

Does anyone here have experience with burning PS2 games and being able to play these?

I've Googled all around and haven't found anything useful, mainly people making fun of kids who want to play a burned game without a mod chip or boot disc. Yes, I have a boot disc! I know I am completely capable of playing a burned PS2 game since I once made a custom Guitar Hero disc (how embarrassing ). However, I tried making an .iso with Alcohol 120%'s PlayStation 2 settings and burning that and the game would freeze (the only game I've tried was Guitar Hero 1, it started up fine, but then froze after the first few milliseconds of the opening movie). I've found step-by-step procedures and all they say is to make an .iso and then burn it and it should work; they don't give too many details.

Plus, I tried burning a PS1 game (again, a game that I legally own) and that wouldn't even start up at all (even after inserting the CD-ROM boot disc as opposed to the DVD-ROM boot disc).

Any help is appreciated

I do this all the time.  I use Swap Magic, and it works everytime.  You have to be careful on what kind of DVD you are burning the game to, however, as I tried 3 different brands before I found one that works.  I'm using Maxell DVD+R DVD's and they work everytime.

On the whole burning process, you are doing it right, just make sure you are burning it at the lowest possible speed (2x or 4x).  other than that, the only thing that is messing it up I think is the DVDs.  Try some new kinds and see how they work

My advice is to get that modchip.

After that any burned media, ie games or movies will play just fine.

Works for my old ps2. Wish I could get my ps3 modded.

Hmm so I need +R's and not -R's? Shiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeuuuuuuuuut. I've got a huge stack of -R's. Oh well, thanks for the input and I'm glad that I'm at least doing the process right
