I was wondering if you guys could tell me if this site has good prices? I am not very knowledgeable about computers or prices, but am learning from this section every day.

Judging from the Recommended Specs Thread from 2 1/2 years ago just copy 'n paste searching, this is what the closest/or cheapest results the site gave me were. What else would you recommend.

microcenter has better prices and a larger hardware selection than Fry's and Bestbuy, but newegg is the way to go online. I go to microcenter in emergencies like last week my psu exploded, so i went to microcenter for a decently priced psu.

can you not just buy individual parts and put it together yourself? it really is pretty easy, and everyone here would be willing to help. you will save A LOT of money by building your own

That has a very weak graphics card, wouldnt be great for games. Like phish, I suggest building. Computers, for the most part, are like expensive legos (yes, lego nazis, legoS). All the parts are keyed in so they can only fit one way

yeah the deals they have can awesome and some of there stuff is pretty reasonably priced.  Luckily I have on about 25 mi away when they have a good deal or I need something right now.

Microcenter is great if you live near one... they match internet prices on procs... and they have great deals off and on... and no shipping...
   if you can pick it up in the store...

I would get a 4850 ati and make sure you get a good PSU  (Lot's  Of weird issues with cheaper PSU's... trust me)
and the antec 900 is around 80-100 bucks and moves a lot of air to keep things cool... heat with a smaller case can create issues as you know...

Microcenter's prices are sometimes lower and sometimes higher... It all depends. I go their a lot, because it's less than 10 minutes from my house. The sales people their are usually morons though, so try to avoid them...

I'm not going to bother skimming through this entire thread to see if I was beaten to the punch...but don't use a 9400GT for gaming. Not for that price. Add a few more bucks and you could easily bump it to a 9800GT or better.
