Looks like the reason for little shortage on the GTX 295s is a redesign spinup to use of single PCB and cheaper cooler. Price, performance and specs will be the same.

Doesn't impress me much. Looks like a follow up of the cheapo GTX 260 PCB thing.... trying to reduce production costs. These changes certainly do that

Other news: HD 4890 launch brought forward to outrun GTX 275 by few days. Now at 2nd April.

Seems like a poor cooler TBH. For me, the current cooler is just fine, blowing all the air out the back. This one seems to put half out the back, and half in the front of the case. It would be interesting to see the temps of the rest of the system with one of these installed.

The GTX295 needs a better cooler. Even the current one is inadequate.

this is my main concern. do you want something that hot leaving all its waste heat in your case?

Even the dual PCB GTX 295 dumbs quite a lot heat in case. Not to talk about that cooler. BBQ party with i7 I guess.

Read that somewhere. They must be going back to the first 200 series PCB with a mem split of half and half. Nvidia wouldn't fork out the cash for a backplate that doesn't touch GPU/Mem.

Edit: Found it.

Looks like it will be in two mem configs and the cooler you see might not be what re sellers slap on em.

the 4850/4870 is nearly guaranteed yet another price drop once the 4890 comes out. the 4890 only features a higher clock, really. so the 4850/4870 will need to be lowered in price to make room for the 4890.
