*climbs on soapbox*
Isn't it great that there are opportunists out there always with a ready camera to catch us at our worst so the whole world can join in outrage at our humanity.
Not going into the fact that snorting coke is not the most intelligent of past times or the fact that with a VP daddy she should actually be more careful not to get caught doing shit like this but we're all human. We all do stuff that's apparently frowned upon by the wider public.
Every now and then there is a story about "This famous person photographed smoking a joint! Outrage! Outrage!" which is stupid given the fact that most journalists are high most, if not all of the time, (the ones I know are anyway.)
The fact that some cancerous leech can take a video of someone for the purpose of earning them a few grand is lowly and sleazy, much more-so than snorting a little coke too I might add. It seems there's some kind of societal schadenfreude we get from seeing the mighty brought down a peg or two but it's gotten to the stage where we don't even really care who gets caught. For now it's Ashley Biden, a 27 year-old woman who is old enough to make her own decisions and mistakes. Why the Hell does anyone care if Ashley Biden snorts coke anyway? Heaps of people snort coke; actors, musicians, executives, average Joes and as mentioned, former and current rulers of the free world. Must we really throw up our arms and cry "scandal" once again? Can't we see our own hypocrisy? Do we really care?
Personally I don't want to see any more "Person you might have heard of does drugs!" stories in the media. I guess it's no longer as shocking as it may or may not have been once. What I will say though is that seeing as society is the way it is, Ashley Biden and anyone else who may exist on the outskirts of being considered a pseudo-celebrity would be wise to do all their illegal substance abuse alone at home, preferably with the blinds drawn.
