My computer has spyware and some viruses that I can only get rid of by reformating my PC. I have all the required discs but I do not know how to reformat.
I have tried searching through hundreds of google pages but havent really found anything so can someone please give me a step by step guide. It would really help alot.

1. Put CD in drive
2. Reboot
3. Follow logical Microsoft guide
4. ????
5. PROFIT!
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I dunno what OS you're going to use, so I'm going to assume XP:

Put the CD in the drive.

Restart.

Press any key when prompted.

Wait while the setup loads.

It will ask what you want to do, press Enter to Setup Windows.

It will say it already found Windows, and ask what you want to do. Press Esc (I think, can't remember) to continue.

Use the arrow keys to hightlight the partition you wish to reformat. Press: D, Enter, L, C, (set the partition size), Enter.

Now highlight the newly created partition and press Enter to begin installing Windows. It will ask how you want to format it, choose NTFS (Quick).

The partition will format (only takes a second if you did Quick) and then the setup will start copying the necessary setup files from the CD.

Then it will "reboot in 15 seconds" or you can press Enter to restart immediately.

When you are prompted to press any key, Don't.

The Windows setup will then start up, and the wizard will guide you through the settings. You can't really fuck anything up here, as pretty much all the settings can be changed later.

Once the setup is done, install the latest motherboard drivers, then video drivers, then sound, LAN, and any other devices you use that require drivers. It's best to download all the latest ones from the manufacturers websites.

So yeah, it's pretty easy. Just do what it says on the screen and you can't really break anything.

And yes, I'm fairly bored.

EDIT: Oh, and since I just wrote this off the top of my head, it might not be 100% accurate...but yeah.

I have Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit. But I am sure that the process would be the same? I had assumed that there was more to it. Also it would be a good thing to unistall everything?

ok well I am about to reformat and now my gf wants me to save all the pictures. She has hundreds and I compressed them all using winRAR and the file size is 5.64GB. Is there any possible way to get this shit to fit on one single disc? I do not have any flash drives around.

Vista has a visual installation wizard.

When you get to the disk partition part, delete the existing one. Then create a new one the size of your hard drive.

A DVD is 4.7GB. You would need a dual-layer DVD, or split the files up and use two DVD's.
