It doesn't jam as often as you think. It's a very reliable weapon now. Sure it jams occaisionaly, but you definantly don't have to clean it every hour.

You have seen 1 Vietnam movie too many it appears. Also it's easy to get a headshot with an ACOG seeing it's so accurate, on guys with their heads and their "Reliable" AKs.

(EDIT: I've never been in the field but I've fired both weapons under MANY conditions) Damn I don't want to start an AK vs M16 thread again...

Obviously i've never been in combat with it, but ive fired one down range a few times, and it's insane. I've little to compare that against though, aside from bolt actions.

Problems with your M16?  Don't use 20 year old, beat-up mags...

This also comes down to routine maintenance and testing your gear.
The M16 is not a bad weapon (except for the first ones issued, but we fixed those problems). 

Also realise the G36 is not fielded by many forces, nor is there a large civilian owned subset, like the M-16/AR-15.
