hey man i keep hearing stuff about voice comms, like for the medic

"alright buddy you're good to go, get back to the fight!"
and
"grenade!"

... i have never once heard these in game. i have played for over 250 hours and my class is a medic. ive never once heard "get back to the fight". all ive ever seen of this was a text message. but never voice.

ive searched for this on the forums but couldnt find anything.

and i dont want people to flame me so im not gonna make a thread out of it

if you could help me that'd be great. you're  a frequenter on bf2s so i guess i think i can go to you for help and stuff
Damn. I honored you came to me.

But to be very honest I don't really understand your question, as in you don't HEAR them over your speakers or what? For example, when a medic revives, he says:

Clear!
Now get back to the fight!

Something like that. It sounds out both over speakers and appears onscreen as a radio message. But for grenade throwing, you don't see the words appear, but if you're close enough you hear a USMC soldier shouting 'Frag Out', and MEC/PLA mumbling something in Arabic/Chinese - but which does NOT appear on screen as a radio message.

Does that answer your question?

Having your sound settings on low quality will turn off sound voices. Medium shouldnt slow you down much more at all, but gives you all the sounds.

He needs to turn his Sound Quality up to max.  He will hear the voices then along with a few intresting background noises.

You would be suprised as to what you can hear when you have it turned up to the max, like footsteps and the cranes moaning.

I think I can clarify this a bit better, The question was: "How come I can't hear myself yell 'first aid here' ect, but can hear other people do it"

The answer is, you cant, i have my sound quality max0red as far as my card can go (which is only high ;_ so dont tell me to turn up quality, the reason behind not hearing yourself is that hearing yourself would confuse you. Because all these shouted voices are uhh, how do i put this, well shouted, as in they dont appear on the chatter, so anyone in the area around you hears you, but you dont hear yourself as you dont need to know that a nade is being thrown, as you are the one throwing it.
These are only my thoughts so they might not be right.
Pm me if you want more clarity
Or email EA, dispite them f**king up patches and listening through thier asses to the community, they do reply, not with an auto message, or so ive heard, ive never felt the need for "customer support"

I meant that I cannot hear *others* say "Get back to the fight" over the speaker and some other comms like "We've got company overhead!" too.

But thanks, I'll try to set my settings on Medium.

If I set it on High what performance issues will come? Will there be lag or only sound lag (skips and glitches in the sound stream).

As fe.lep said, what card you got? mines a pathetic cheapo card (Creative Sounblaster LIVE! 5.1 lol sad i know) but it handles high quality no probs so im doubting you'll have trouble unless its some 16bit ISA thing from the arc of time

I had my setting on low when i first started, then i put them on high and i havent looked back.

I Love it when im in a quiet area and  someone is dropping ammo around me and you can here the faint "Ammo here, Ammo, Need ammo, Ammo here.

It makes me smile.

Its like theyre trying not to give away our position.

I have my audio on medium and I can hear others saying "Get back to the fight". I believe the key here is proximaty to the medic who is doing the reviving. If you are fairly close you can hear him say this in a regular voice, not over the comm. Just the same as if you are close enough to a teammate you can hear him in a regular voice saying "enemy boat spotted" instead of over the radio.
