Consolidating its position at the cutting edge of new media technology, the Guardian today announces that it will become the first newspaper in the world to be published exclusively via Twitter, the sensationally popular social networking service that has transformed online communication.
Pointless

A mammoth project is also under way to rewrite the whole of the newspaper's archive, stretching back to 1821, in the form of tweets. Major stories already completed include "1832 Reform Act gives voting rights to one in five adult males yay!!!"; "[b wrote:

OMG Hitler invades Poland,[/b] allies declare war see tinyurl.com/b5x6e for more"; and "JFK assassin8d @ Dallas, def. heard second gunshot from grassy knoll WTF?"
For communists, they sure have a sense of humour

Sceptics have expressed concerns that 140 characters may be insufficient to capture the full breadth of meaningful human activity, but social media experts say the spread of Twitter encourages brevity, and that it ought to be possible to convey the gist of any message in a tweet.
True, possibly

At a time of unprecedented challenge for all print media, many publications have rushed to embrace social networking technologies. Most now offer Twitter feeds of major breaking news headlines, while the Daily Mail recently pioneered an iPhone application providing users with a one-click facility for reporting suspicious behaviour by migrants or gays.
Hahhahahahhahaha, i knew the daily mail was a racist rag, but wtf

What is the point of espn now.. I mean it used to be relevant (like when you actually used to need them to get recaps).. but tbh, it's depressing watching them try to come up with things to talk about. New media is chewing them up me thinks.

It's definitely an April fools.

If the Guardian or The Times start twittering, I will lose all faith in the British news industry. Twittering is kept for Web 2.0 faggots like Kmar, not for old fashioned British institutions, it's a useless service with no worth whatsoever- especially when it comes to giving actual news.

We only get "ESPN America", which only shows the special programs, ie PTI, Around the Horn, NASCAR Now, College Gameday etc.

I miss Sports Center

We get Baseball Tonight though, which is nice.

Nothing personal, I just hate rabidly annoying Web 2.0 disciples that worship in their congregations of pointlessness and narcissism. The Internet is not an experience that should be tailored and customed to every individual, I simply fundamentally disagree with their view and use of the web. Twitter is a massive fad; it's the wankiest thing to ever infect the Internet's brainless masses. At least the other Web 2.0 / social networking crazes had some point or purpose that you could gleam from them-- all Twitter does is dilute your content (and your brain) into one-line, self-absorbed gimmicks.

Regardless, the Guardian wouldn't do it anyway. I doubt they're even anti-Twitter. It's just an absurd thing to play on for April Fool's.
