Apologies if this is elsewhere, but my searches didn't turn up an answer.

I bought Special Forces today and after I had installed it I had lost all sound from my computer - it claimed there were no sound devices attached.  I reinstalled the drivers for the soundcard (Sound Blaster, Audigy) and have sound back except in BF2.  The intro and movies have it, but it goes silent at the login screen and never comes back.

Very frustrating!!  Please help - I have had 2 weeks away from BF2 but tonight have the house to myself, but still no fun.......

Reinstall SF. Not sure if it'll work, but it's basic trouble shooting and there's no harm. Also, make sure you've patched SF to 1.21.

Thanks for that.  I have reinstalled BF2, SF and the patches and now have functional sound.  No sign of any SF maps, though, neither in single player nor online.  Most odd.

The real pisser is that in the reinstallation I  lost my password to my normal nickname.  Whilst playing around when I first got BF I created 3 names on the same email address and the password changing procedure only works on one of my dormant names.  This is SO frustrating - I have been unable to get to BF2 for a fortnight and tonight have the house to myself but can't get onto the new maps or into my old identity.  I have fired off a message to EA in the hope that they can sort out the password for me.
