next step 5y + 3y + 6 = 2
next step 8y + 6 = 2
next step 8y = -4
next step y = -1/2

To simplify the problems 4-8: Flip the denominator and numerator so you get the products on opposite sides. Basically you get the reciprocal of the second fraction. E.g. 1/2 would be flipped to get 2/1.NeXuS wrote:

After that you change the division symbol to a multiplication one. And then all you have to do is factor all the products out(of both fractions) and then cancel out similar equations.
You can only cancel out a product on the bottom by a product on the top vice versa.
Also if you stumble on two products that are similar(e.g. x-3 and 3-x) you are able to cancel them out but must replace either the top/bottom portion of products you canceled out with a -1.
*If you some of that didn't make sense to you just PM me. And if I made any mistakes please correct me. It has been a few months since I dealt with this type of algebra.
