so if the cpu host frequency is lets say 300, the memory frequency also has to be 300?
another ex. if its 700, the ram has to be 700 aswell.
correct?

ok, i am looking into flashing my card back to stock, but am worried i may brick the card.GC_PaNzerFIN wrote:
TBH the synchronization of ram bus frequenzy and FSB doesn't make much of difference. I have had 5 nforce boards with unlinked FSB:RAM ratio to play around with them.
You guys are trying to fix a graphics issue by changing ram speed. NOT GONNA HAPPEN as his gfx has 40% less fps in the game tests.
As long as you refuse to flash the graphics card BIOS, I can't help you.
Flash stock BIOS to gfx, remove all drivers and clean every piece of them with reg cleaner. Run many anti-spyware detection&removal tools to make sure that is not causing your low performance. Also see if there is some particular program hogging all your resources (like f-secure etc.)
Put everything to stock. everything. get latest drivers. reinstall directx. reinstall 3dmark etc.
[maybe even format]
ok, i have the original biosGC_PaNzerFIN wrote:
no you need the original REFERENCE DESIGN Gainward BIOS. There is no reserve funktion.
I've never had the chance to play around with the more recent chipsets to that degree. I know it will make some amount of difference, just not how much.GC_PaNzerFIN wrote:

That's why I said "it shouldn't make that much difference" (or words to that effect) in my first post in this thread on the subject...GC_PaNzerFIN wrote:

I should probably also just not post here when I'm feeling unwell - makes me a grumpy bastard...GC_PaNzerFIN wrote:
reason why I don't post long here is that I am 4th day ill. High fever, can't eat, throwing up and diarrhea.
Ta, that was the bit I was unsure about.GC_PaNzerFIN wrote:
When you set FSB:RAM ratio to 1:1
266MHz FSB = 533MHz ram because of the DDR
333MHz FSB = 667MHz ram etc.
with different ratios you can use, depending on mobo, such as 333FSB and 800MHz ram etc.
You may well be right.GC_PaNzerFIN wrote:
but... if his ram is at 800mhz right now, like I think it is. Doing that will seriously drop overall system performance that will drop the CPU score and GPU score even lower.
ati flash is good.rammunition wrote:
ok,ok, im going to bios flash first tbh.
so i have 2 sets of bios ready to check one of them out. what should i use to flash. winflash, atiflash, RBE ETC?
also what ever you mention, do tell how to use it also
there obviously IS something wrong with the card when it has a different BIOS and performs a lot worse. i'm 90% sure just reverting to the original BIOS will make it perform properly.Scorpion0x17 wrote:
As there's nothing obviously wrong with ramm's card, I thought it worth a try.

According to GPU-Z, and the link ramm' posted to the BIOS he's going to flash, it has the correct BIOS.haffeysucks wrote:

eh? i thought it had a ASUS BIOS currently, but the card was branded Gainward.Scorpion0x17 wrote:

Sure, but it increases the possibility of fucking up.rammunition wrote:
also, can't you flash through windows?
please don't do that. you'll be very unstable.rammunition wrote:
ok, i went into bios and changed the PCI-E freq setting from auto to 108, i got a 1200 point increase in vantage
http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm10 … /3dmmm.jpg
question, if it safe to leave the freq at 108?

OMG. You are correct. OK. If I'd have spotted that before I wouldn't have suggested anything other than re-flashing - the BIOS is foobar - the BIOS version number, as shown in GPU-Z is the Gainward BIOS version number, but the sub-vendor says ASUS.haffeysucks wrote:

(btw, fun fact of the day (at least for me) : Zotac = Gainward )
