patches FUBARed my install of SF somewhere along the way, I am not wasting another day in my life just reloading all the BF2 programs and patches and the settings, etc.... just hoping it all works. Oh yeah.. and having to sit through "optimizing shaders" each time I load a level for the first time is not my idea of a fun time either. With my luck a reload will fix SF but will kill euro forces or highway tampa or some other map pack. Warlord is the only level I miss. very Karkand-ish. Ghost town would be an OK map if the apache chopper wasn't in the middle of the map waiting for every m95er to snipe you down.

My PC can't handle the night maps, which is what I really want to play. Despite this, I suppose Warlord, Ghost Town and Surge are decent.
Man I miss SF alot, and I for one love the night maps...
i love SF, usually play at night on same servers, never had any problems, never get kicked or disconnected, not a huge fan of the night maps but dont mind them that much ....

I play SF very rarely now because the only populated servers are running on crappy Ghost Town and Warlord. Theese maps are ok, but bunch of 24/7 no lifes GT / W whores destroyed this add on, because admins set up only those two maps to have bigger chance of making them popular. Its almost impossible to play on a night map now, and it sucks because i think the night maps are A W E S O M E, especially the MOON on the Devils Perch, it looks great.
The only alternative is Battlefield Gotland all maps, but, I dunno why, most of the time there is GT / W although the ALL MAPS sign.
Also, the =SoE= 24/7 iron gator has been shut down, although i didnt like the map because of the heli whores (but you could earn there shitload of points playing medic with A K 47 ( ), my Iron Gator's BR is about 240, all with Ak-47

the closest thing to COD4's infantry battles is the Special Forces XP. and i played a whopping amount of SPecial forces from 2005-2006. Warlord, Ghosttown, night flight. AS THE SAS...... SF is more infantry based than vehicle based. vanilla BF2 , if you are in a tank or apc and the enemy is in a f-35 or F15, your just roadkill.
I remember all the tricks in ghosttown and warlord, and people would fall for it again if i went back and played.
1) Warlord: I put C4 near the palace gates where there is a guard tower. one C4 in the middle of the gate and one c4 pack near the boulder beside it. since c4 has a big ass blast radius, a tank driver is going more likely to see one C4 pack. but he knows its two c4 packs in the road that can kill him. so he drives forward ( AND I HAVE SEEN THIS OVER AND OVER UNTIL IM BLUE IN THE FACE) , and BOOOM 60 tons of scrap metal. got my expert demolitions badge from that.
2) ghost town: me as SAS, sneak into the Uncap russian base, go near their APC parked there ( if its there), place c4 under the APC so its less conspicuous, run away and hide, and when they take the APC and drive to the bridge, BANG!!!!!!!!
same applies to the chopper there also.

I have all my SF medals and badges - I loved SF - Warlord, Ghost Town are great city maps. I agree the night maps are wank though.

Special forces is great in my opinion. Something different, just good times, plus my clan has a great server and great guys!!
Not enough accessible servers in Aus, its very laggy and the graphics are choppy.

Yeah, I play on SoE and its up, I have it on my favs. Its how I earn my MEC and Navy seals time for SF.
