I remember reading about a test with rats and I cant remember the name. There were three groups of rats and a bar that when pressed would give treats to them. One group would always get treats when the pressed the bar so they would press it once in a while when they weren't full. Another group got nothing when the pressed the bar so eventually they stopped and the last group would occasionally get treats when they pressed the bar and that group would constantly press their bar over and over.

I was wondering if anyone could attach a name to the experiment I'm thinking of

lol coincidence. I'm revising some neuroscience atm and what you are talking about sounds a lot like operant conditioning. The full rats dont push the bar as often due to satiation. The middle group dont press the bar due to extinction.
