God caused the ten plagues because the pharoah of egypt would not let the jewish slaves go. The jews were in slavery for about 200 years? (i think) and Moses was trying to free them. It would not work so God caused the the ten plagues to make the Pharoah free the slaves. The only plague that worked was the killing of the first born. Thats when the Pharoah couldn't take it ahnymore, so he let the slaves free.Mekstizzle wrote:
That's fucking horrible to celebrate a story of God killing Children/First born of a certain race of people. In what way is this better than celebrating something like the Holocaust, except with the Holocaust there's actually proof of it happening unlike this Jew story. And that is a good thing is it? Paving the way for Christianity and Islam, yeah, thank you very much JewsSurely it was a major turning point in history; either for its sign of divine intervention or that it meant the Hebrews would live on, thus paving the way for Christianity and Islam and modern religion as a whole.
The jews went through a lot worse than the egyptians did, so the egyptians sort of got "revenged" on.
Edit: Happy Pesach/Passover w/e.

Quick, someone explain how dying on the cross 1980ish years ago is remembered by chocolate eggs delivered by rabbits.

From what I've read the traditions of the egg hunt and the Easter Bunny date back to a holiday in honor of the goddess of the dawn. (In what religion, idk). It was tradition to eat rabbit on this holiday and the children would hunt for eggs.AussieReaper wrote:

Eggs represent the renewal of life. Apparently real eggs are too barbaric.
I have a strong feeling that most all of our religious and secular traditions that seem rather random (like why eggs to represent new life instead of flowers or anything else?) come from a very ancient line of superstitions and customs; however, the reasoning for these customs might change as time progresses.Adams_BJ wrote:

Sounds like the sort of stuff Christianity would nick.Superior Mind wrote:
