I saw this a couple of months ago after hearing about it on the radio. It's hard to argue it considering it's practically the same riff. Problem is how many times have similar cases come up? Wasn't Tom Petty trying to sue Red Hot Chili Peppers a couple of years ago for Dani California? He won't get anything for it but I hope it really tarnishes Coldplay's image. I really can't stand those guys at all.

I really doubt Coldplay are Satriani fans. They probably didn't even know this particular song.

Who really screwed up was their label. Their management is supposed to do at least a little bit of research into what music resembles theirs so as to avoid embarassing situations like this.

Think of it like this... If you were a really popular band promoting a song that had the potential to become a major hit, would you risk it all on what most people would perceive as plagiarism?

Coldplay was upfront about their borrowing of that Kraftwerk song and got permission to use the melody for a previous single "Talk." Why would they try to hide their use of a melody by one of the most popular guitarists?

It just doesn't add up. It looks to me like their management just fucked up.
