I just bought an account at newsdemon.com.
I have a program called "Grabit" to download the files, but I have no idea if that program is any good or not.
Now what site do I go to so that I can actually download stuff? I've tried a bunch of different sites, but it's all so freaking confusing I had no idea what to download, let alone actually search for a file.

If anyone out there (inb4max) could just tell me what programs you use and what sites you visit, I think it would make my life a whole lot easier

Try newzleech.com for seaching. Generally you'll want to set your minimum size to something reasonable to get rid of the spam. Alternatively download the headers of the interesting groups (like alt.binaries.hdtv.x264). I use Newsbin Pro but grabit is fine too

What should I use to open PAR files with? Are those basically like .rar files?

also, after I download the NZB or whatever and have all the files loaded into Grabit, the files will only download from the useast.newsdemon.com server, and not the us-secure.newsdemon.com. pic for clarification

It either says Connection Timeout, or something about the groupings being messed up.
What are the difference between the two servers in the first place, and do you know how to fix that problem?

I have the unlimited plus package. At first I thought I entered my username/password wrong into Grabit, but I triple checked, and the server I'm using to download from now also requires me to enter my name/pass, so it couldn't be that.

Did you set the correct port and enabled encryption in the client?
oh and you need to set your server to us-secure.newsdemon.com obviously

ah, it turns out I have an older version of Grabit that doesn't support SSL encryption. Just gotta download the new version and I should be good to go.

Hey I got a little problem.

The files I downloaded are all messed up I think. They are not RAR or PAR files, and they don't even seem to be in the correct folder.
I made a little video to show what was up:

watch in HD and full screen to read the text easiest

Anybody know what to do with the files? And why they are in the "Cache" folder and not the "dexter" folder? (where I thought they should be)
