"Twelve kittens per cats"

English doesn't work that way.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

12 people = 24 legs

1728 cats = 6912 legs

20736 kittens = 82944 legs

Spoiler (highlight to read):
Backpacks don't have legs.

89880 legs. Did they think people would get tricked by thinking backpacks had legs??

Spoiler (highlight to read):
12 people x 2 legs = 24 legs
12 backpacks x 12 people = 144 backpacks
12 cats x 144 backpacks x 4 legs = 6912 legs
12 kittens x 12 cats x 144 backpacks x 4 legs = 82944 legs
Total legs = 24 + 6912 + 82944 = 89880 legs

Show me a human being that can somehow accommodate 12 backpacks upon their mortal frame, and then I shall apply my mind to your pesky mathematical riddle!

Easy as pie.

Spoiler (highlight to read):
2*12 (Humans) + 12*12*12*4 (Cats) + 12*12*12*12*4 (Kittens) = 89880. Pulg it into Google Calculator, and you're good to go.

Have you ever tried to carry 156 cats in one backpack? It's not gonna work. That's not to mention that each person is carrying 12 backpacks full of cats - that's 1,872 cats per person! I think the question should be more "Where the fuck did these people get all these cats and how the fuck can they carry them all?" rather than "How many legs were there?"

Kind of like the St. Ives poem innit.

There are 2 types of people who answer these questions: The Mathematician, and The Practicalist.
The Mathematician says 89880. The Practicalist says something like "how can a person carry 1872 cats?"

24+12^3*4+12^4*4=89880

But the whole question is nonsensical.

24.

Cats don't actually have 'legs'. They're called Eunporomonial Limbs because they have certain properties lacking.
