Need some help here please.

So,  I installed windows 7 on my comp, but I didn´t do it without disconnecting the XP drive.
Now the drive with 7 died but I still have the login screen on my XP drive where I can choose
between starting XP or 7.
anybody has an idea how do I get rid of this ?

Thanks for help.

I'm not too sure what you mean by "login screen". Is this in startup before Windows boots or actually within XP?

Either way, I can suggest looking in your BIOS for an option that boots from a certain drive automatically, rather than asking you to choose one.

The login screen comes up on my XP drive right before windows starts up. The windows 7 drive is already out of the system.

I´ll take/post a pic in a sec.

Do you mean the screen where you choose wish OS to boot?

He means the screen where it asks him for user name and pass to logon (i think)

Boot.ini

Boot up into XP....
   1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
   2. On the Advanced tab, click Settings under Startup and Recovery.
   3. Under System Startup, click Edit.

Yours probably looks something like this:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="Windows 7 Professional" /fastdetect

Take out the whole line for Windows 7 and save and reboot.

Hijack.

I have 2x80GB drives, one with Vista and one with Win7. I also have a 250GB drive with Vista. When I have only the 250GB drive in, I get a drive error. When I have the 250GB one and the 80GB one with Vista, I get two options to boot into Vista, like the picture above. If I have the 250GB one with the Win7 80GB one I get no option on which one to boot, it just boots into Win7 auto.

How can I get the 250GB one to work on its own?
How can I choose whether or not to boot into Vista when the 250GB one is coupled with the Win7 one?

Cheers.

Code:

;
;Warning: Boot.ini is used on Windows XP and earlier operating systems.
;Warning: Use BCDEDIT.exe to modify Windows Vista boot options.
;
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN /FASTDETECT
As far as I can see, there is nothing in there about the XP/7 selection ?

The answer you seek may lie in the post above Modify your initialization files.
