  • Need to Remove DRM from (legally) Downloaded Music Files

I've legally downloaded some music from Napster and now I need a program to remove the DRM. I've been doing this for quite some time and the program Tunebite has served me well. Unfortunately, Napster won't play nice with my 64-bit XP, so I had to install it to Vista instead. Even more unfortunate, an older version of Tunebite that I normally use doesn't work too well either. I updated Tunebite and lo and behold it's even more fucked up.

I'd prefer a program that will let me set up a queue so I can leave it running while I'm out or asleep. Being able to record multiple tracks at once or at increased speeds would also be nice.
Oh and please no trial versions that only record the first 90 seconds or some shit like that.

Thanks!

Thanks, I'll check that out right now.

As far as I know (and according to other people I've asked who are well-versed in the subject), removing the DRM isn't illegal as long as you are the only person using the converted file. Under 'fair use', it's ok for me to remove the DRM in order to put it on an iPod or something and as long as no one else listens to it.
Now, I haven't checked up on this in a while, so things might have changed...

Nah, it's probably against some EULA somewhere that by removing it your soul belongs to the RIAA. That's not to say you shouldn't be allowed to do whatever the hell you want with the music you bought, and you should most definitely remove the DRM.

DMCA states you cannot circumvent DRM you filthy pirate.
My state was founded by Batman. Your opinion is invalid.

DRM is, however, morally unjust. Fight against the morally unjust.

(why the hell did you even buy DRM'd music to begin with?)

Sometimes, the only places you can find certain music is through legal sources. Better yet, my mom has a subscription on Napster, which means a lot of free downloads for most stuff.

Jamiet757, I've got a question for you.

What troubleshooting settings do you use when converting a bunch of songs? I'm going through a bunch right now using the settings that convert a bunch at once. Do those normally turn out alright? Of course, if anything goes wrong I can just do one at a time, but that will take way too long.
