Kids have to learn to respect their parents, when I came to Italy from Korea I was shocked by how kids treated their parents, calling them:
"Asshole, fuck off, fuck you mom/dad, idiot etc". You treat your parents like that, well that is what you deserve.

Teach their kids the relevant part of the bushido code: RESPECT AND HONOUR YOUR PARENTS. YOUR CO-WORKERS AND YOUR BOSS.

Also, teach them the quality of 'being mindful of death'. Basically the idea was to realise and accept that you can die at any moment, and thus to live life like each day is your last and to give everything to what ever you do so that people remember you in a positive light.

I think the parent made the wise decision. Maybe not where she did it because of all the strangers and how the kids could get hurt by some mofos with wierd minds. But that's the best way to disipline a child. Because those "Stop now or else" threats never work.
