According to this article, the navy are auctioning this minesweeper on www.finn.no (norwegian equivalent to ebay) for an undisclosed starting sum.
I bet if we put all our money together we could put in a decent bid. Who's in?
The article says starting price should be around 1,1 mil( ~£150000). Devalued by like a billion percent considering it was worth over 100mil kroner (£11 mil). It sleeps 40 btw.ghettoperson wrote:
Do they not even give a ballpark figure? I mean, I wouldn't have the faintest clue what to pay? What's a second hand minesweeper worth? 1million? 10million? 10 grand?
tis if it's got certain parts according to the article...it's been de-militarized after having much of the engine changed out amongst other things.AussieReaper wrote:
A minesweeper is not a warship.

Taking the engine out of an ambulance doesn't demilitarise it.
says it all there...too bad you can't understand itHovedmotorer, generatorer, vannjeter og annet utstyr er demontert og brukt som reservedeler på andre båter.Fartøyene selges i den stand de er og uten noen form for angrefrist eller reklamasjonsrett.

Wait so it doesn't move? So if 40 sailors fit in it, that means 20 straight men fit in it. So 20 of us would have to put up 7500 each to make the opening bid...teddy..jimmy wrote:

Quite simple actually...teddy..jimmy wrote:

A minesweeper is obviously built with an engine similar to other warships. Ambulances and tanks are probably strikingly similar.

A minesweeper that lays mines. pretty sneakyMekstizzle wrote:
I'm sure that thing must've been outfitted with some sort of armament, you look at the minesweepers around the world and most of them are armed with something. You don't need 12X 20" guns to be classified as a warship
Like this:

Armament:
* 2 x Bofors 40mm/L70 dual-purpose gun (to be upgraded to 2 Mauser MLG27 27 mm remote-controlled autocannons)
* FIM-92 Stinger surface-to-air missiles (MANPADS)
* Mine-laying capabilities (60 mines)
