Any of you ever experienced sleep paralysis?  Happened to me for the first time a couple nights back.  Fortunately for me, armed with the knowledge of what the hell was going on I didn't have any demonic hallucinations like I have read about.  Needless to say it was a trippy experience, had to start at my right pointer finger before I could get full functionality back.

For those of you who don't know what SP is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis

In short, your body paralysis itself during sleep so as to not act out its dreams and hurt itself, and sometimes you wake up still paralyzed and sometimes still dreaming.  Most people have dark hallucinations only because they can't move and they start to panic and all this demonic and fear crap starts getting into their heads.

I've had it very briefly before, it was kinda scary. I fell asleep in front of the TV and when I woke up, I couldn't move and I kept seeing shadows moving and voices giggling, I just assumed it was my brother and his friend playing so yeah, I totally forgot he wasn't even in the state =p

Had quite a few of these. Had a really bad one last week I was freaked out for a bit. A couple the times you actually feel like you can't breathe!

in all honestly i was kind of hoping i would see or hear something, anything just for the experience of being scared shitless by your own mind, but unfortunately all i heard was the faucet outside my window sputtering water

Yeah, quite a few times.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

It fell cool unless you experience the difficult of breathing, in which case it becomes a bit terrifying.

Nuh but I want to see a ghost, preferably my Mum at the end of my bed.  Similar thing happened to my bro in law when his Dad died and he was just a kid.

It happened to me once.

I sorta thought I was awaken, but the classical music began playing and in few moments I saw shit like aliens and 2012 and negative colors and shit like that. I then "de-locked" and watched cnn for the rest of the night.

Fuck me.

It happened to me this morning haha

I'd say it probably happens a few times a month for me, maybe even a few times a week, I made a topic a long time ago about this.

And yes, it always feels like someone is holding you down, infact today I swear to god it felt like there was someone holding my hand/holding it down (giggity) - for some reason it isn't creepy whilst it's happening, as you either think it's real or you think it's a dream, it's only when you force yourself out of it that you realise it was all fake and then you're like "woah ...I swear that was real"

Meh, you get used to it afterwards. Fuck knows why it happens though, probably not getting enough good sleep

I've woken up not to be able to do anything at all. It felt like someone/thing was ontop of me keeping me down, so much to the point where I was trying to push them off (but I couldn't) and then eventually being able to move, and swinging my arm/body around and saying "fuck off" even though nobody is actually there. I remember making a topic about it.

Apparently it's where your mind wakes up but your body hasn't, well that was the reason for mines

It used to happen quite frequently to me, hasn't happened in awhile now though
See, fucking shit has been happening to me all my life!

It happens very occasionally, and my body usually snaps into action after a second (very hard to lift head at first, then suddenly turning around like an eel on crack).  I usually just assume my head's still making the nerve connections (I can't think very clearly just after waking up).  And sometimes I just go back to sleep.

Actually, when falling asleep I get the weird feeling that there's some giant hand holding me up and rotating clockwise.

I've once tripped off a kerb in my sleep and jumped right off my bed, landing on my schoolbag which had a lunchbox in it.
