My brother just called me to see how life was and we got talking about this subject. He told me that he cut out his Catalytic Converter opened it up and put a straight piece of pipe going through it. Then welded it all back in place. Now that to me sounds like a good idea. Not for the environment but for my car. He said he did it that way so it looks like the Catalytic Converter is still there doing its job.

Nope. We don't even need to do regular inspections. The only time an inspection is needed is if you are moving to another province or if you get pulled over. If you get pulled over and the police look at your car and say its a piece of shit, they will force the vehicle off the road until you get it inspected and bring in the inspection paper to the police. These are the only ways I know of having a mandatory inspection in BC that is.

Okay, so..short answer. Nope it wont help.

Long answer would be something along the line of...

Unless your car catalytic converter is broken, (ceramic plate crushed) it is not a problem on your exaust system....unless you really want the .5 or 1hp it will get you...and eventually the new cat converter after the police got your ass for it...dont tinker with it.

You might want to change your oil, clean/replace your air filter. Clean/replace your gas filter, check your spark plug for any sign of bad combustion.(If you'd have one less cylinder you might actually feel it in the car when using it but do it anyway, dont cost anything to check em and you can get an idea on how "Healthy" your engine is). sluggishness can also be cause by slipping gear in the transmission. If it seem to be none of the above it would be a good idea to find a friend with a OBD2 reader that is willing to check for any error code....if no friend of your have this little toy, then any mechanic will do it for your with pleasure(Money in their pocket). Could be your air sensor fucking up and not allowing enough air in the mix when high volume of air is passing in the motor (Motor giving more power for hill and such).

If after doing all the above you get no error code and all filter, spark plugs are fine, then its in your head man, cant really help ya any further.

Edit: Spelling like someone who just got up, wait that's the case.
