Why is everyone using that clock/temperature widget gimmick now, despite it looking shitty and having zero functionality 90% of the time?

I swear it's as redundant as having an Apple-style Dock whilst still running Quicklaunch / Desktop Icons...

It's what the cool kids do. I think having the date/clock displayed very cleanly is wonderful, but the weather function is just a waste. Look outside ffs, at least that's 100% accurate.
