Went to a co-workers house for a BBQ earlier tonight, bunch of guys talking about cars and being in Abilene Texas(for work), musclecarville, people of course started talking shit about my Integra. "rice burner" this, "4banger" that, blah blah blah...after a while I told them if they really knew anything about cars they wouldn't be talking shit about mine.
Long story short, the guy that owns the house we were at has a '69 Camaro with a moderately built small block 350 and we ended up setting up a friendly race.

95 Integra GSR 1.8liter 4 banger vs. 69 Camaro with sb350 5.6liter? V8

Now the guy with the Camaro actually knows cars very well and understood why my car would be competition (forced induction FTW) but everyone else was still talking.

Lined up for the first race, 3rd honk we took off, he had a bad launch so I got the jump and took it all the way with 5-6 car lengths by 100mph. Should have seen every ones face, they didn't believe it. They demanded a rematch because of the crap launch.
We lined up again, 3rd honk he flat out launched the piss out of it and raped me off the line by a couple car lengths, once I got some decent traction in 3rd gear I rolled right on by and had a car length on him at 100mph. All we heard after we got back was "WHAT THE FUUUUUUUUCKK!???!"

Well done on the race, though. But to be honest, keep it on the track, mate. No reason to be doing that kind of shit out on public roads. That's why drag strips were made.

I would have expected you to win, also. Another thing called power to weight. Those old cars are heavy as hell, but those motors can lay down a serious amount of torque. There are also very few times where forced induction loses out to all-motor. If he'd had that Camaro supercharged, though, you wouldn't have stood a chance in hell.

why? should i be surprised that a high strung rice burner will tear up a "mildly" built bucket of bolts? mildly means cheap headers, some piece of shit holley carb, thm350 slushbox maybe with a high-stall, and an open differential, pretty intimidating.

Fucking rights. I am so not a muscle car kinda guy. All my friends are into muscle cars so they all talk about what they are gonna do when they get their Chevy or whatever and poke fun at me when I say I want a Subaru WRX Impreza (I love Rally Cars). If I could trade in my Ford Ranger, Dodge Neon, my girlfriend, my TV, my computer and so on for a WRX Impreza I would do it in a heart beat.
Anyway congrats on blowing away the American muscle with a tuner (I think that is what it is right?).

It wasn't just about beating some moderately built 350 V8, it was about educating the ignorant. Almost everyone here hears 1.8 liter and they start laughing, when you try to explain why it's fast they don't understand. To these people, if it's not a V8, it's not fast. When I was given the chance to burst their bubble I took it...and I added salt to the wound by informing them that my engine has 194,000miles on it. Everything from the throttle body to the exhaust ports is original, welcome to reliability.

Nismo, I usually will not street race but I felt the location was OK. It was a new road about 3/4 mile long with no businesses or houses, we had people at both ends that would flash lights whenever a car came near. I Usually would have said no but in this case testosterone got the best of me.

Should have pics in a few hours when I get to work...guy on first shift had the camera.

Chhyeahh, Hondas use a MAP sensor set up so my BOV vents to atmosphere, it goes PUTSHHHHHHH

This is why I hate people who love imports. Sure, a Honda Civic can go fast after you put an expensive turbo in it and a shit load of money for other things. I'd rather have a car that's incredibly fast stock, then if I wanted to make it even faster, I could...
