edit: Technological innovations ftw.

edit2: its awsome they develope better and better stuff. Think about the image quality this allows for movies for example. Holomovies wooo!
Yeah, right as everyone upgrades their shit to BD, they have to turn around and get the next most expensive one....

Some things move too fast, tbh.
heh I have no hurry to move to BD, so the sooner this gets mainstream the better.

I lol'd. Since 2005 i saw like 20 different articles about different companies making different variations of DVD which had different capacity, but always >100GB. Its almost May 2009 and you still can't buy any type of this disk. It's like a cure for cancer. Unfortunately...

Optical media is dying. HDD prices are so low and the internet so fast (well unless you're in third world countries like Australia or the US) there's hardly a reason to use optical disks anymore.
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

The only thing I have used optical disks for in the past couple of years is
A) creating DVDs of my short films
B) creating mix CDs for friends

In 10 years time no one is going to be using stupid spinny things. It'll all be flash memory.

Don't throw magnetic HDDs around. SSD can take a worse beating than CDs

Just gotta wait for SSD prices to come down to magnetic HDD levels

Yeah, let's put all our data on some centralized location in Vermont.

I've got an old IDE here which says it can withstand up to 300Gs.
