No, Turbo is not standard. VTEC was too slow so I put a turbo on it.

Expensive? What's expensive to you? I have under $5,500USD into my car including the purchase price of the car and regular maintenance and it runs high 12 second 1/4 miles on street tires. I also drive it every day and if i stay out of boost (like I did on the drive down to Texas) I get 37mpg on the freeway. It has almost 200,000miles on the engine pushing twice the power it is meant to and I didn't hesitate to take it on a 2,000 mile road trip. The transmission and body of the car have 234,000miles on them and everything works, even the A/C. But really the 1/4mile isn't what my car is set up for, I road race with it, I can go around left and right hand turns...fast.
As for adding power, just like any engine, more $ = more power, just depends how fast you want to go. All I have to do is get bigger injectors, turn my boost controller up and retune and I could easily see 400whp on a stock block...after that, it'd be wise to invest in some forged pistons and rods.
Unlike you I enjoy all cars, imports and muscle, in fact the '69 Camaro I raced is one of my all time favorite cars, I plan on rebuilding one with my dad in the not so distant future.

My last dyno was 272whp @ 10.5psi, since then the boost has gone up to 12psi so I'm estimating real close to 300whp. When the Camaro had a good launch it pulled 2 lengths off the line and held the lead till I got to third gear, then I rallied back and had him by a car length by the end so it was pretty close.

Integras are all FWD so drive train loss is minimal. It's hard to pinpoint it without doing 2 separate dynos but i'm guessing my engine produces around 330bhp. Stock GSR's make 170bhp and put 155 of it to the wheels so there is about a 10% loss. Like anything else, there are pros and cons to all types of drives, FWD has the least drive train loss but it also has the hardest time getting traction and understeer is a bitch.

ja but its a mates bday. and if you set it to boost too low, you'll barely feel the effects. ideally it kicks in (violently) fairly mid to high, for the overtaking grunt. like i said, VW fitted a few golfs with this nifty twin sys that gives boost throughout the entire rev range.

Turbo lag is hardly as bad as you make it seem. Like bennisboy said, You have to match up the right turbo for your engine and goals. No turbo is created equal. Since the dawn of hybrid turbos, lag has almost completely ceased as an issue.
Plus what good is a supercharger if your peak hp is limited, pulleys can only get so small, exhaust gases are endless.
For example: A stock GSR block and head will not see over 300whp with any supercharger available...a turbo, although you may have lag for .5 seconds will see that 300whp at 5,000rpms and keep climbing to whatever you set it at. Watch my 10-120 vid in my sig and count how long the lag is between the time i go WOT and the boost gauge gets to full boost...tell if it's really that bad.
edit: To clarify, superchargers are good for some setups but for smaller engines, if you want some serious power the answer is turbo. If you're into AutoX and do a lot of low end throttling, a supercharger may be the best route.
