So yeah, everything's fine and dandy in windows explorer besides the fact that when I go to my computer it absolutely displays nothing but the window bar that should be seen at the top of your monitor if you're using the same OS. I'm going to try to do this and that, restart, etc. I'm clueless as to what's up except for maybe something with the hdd but I can access C:\ just fine. Halp for karmaz? kthxbai
Try this....
Open a command prompt and type in: SFC /scannow
Let that run and see if you're missing any system files

Did you accidedntally make the entire of program files and all its containing folders and files read only?
I did that once and had a similar problem.

Shit...I rebooted and can access "My Computer" now but I think my SD card is f'ed up. Plugged it into my HP printer and now it just continuously says "Reading card..."
See what I did today was start extracting and archive's files to it and paused it because I had to go. So I got home recently, plugged the card back in, went and did something for 5+ minutes, came back, and clicked "continue" and it didn't move past the current percentage until I had a windows - 95 type window error message saying something about the files being transferred blah dee blah and I just said "meh" and clicked on I don't know what, now. So apparently the card works but it's probably corrupt or something because the printer found a file on it and it displays a white square image with a green circle, blue square and red triangle with a ripped corner and my computer isn't saying it found any "removable media"; usually it's assigned to the F: drive...blahh..what to do...

Well, correction. It's not corrupt; my pocket pc can read all the files just dandy.

(substitute "E:" for your drive's letter)

So I reinstalled my printer's drivers (has the SD card slot) and when I plugged the card in it assigned it to F: but now when I try to access it I get an error saying F:\ Is not accessible. The request could not be performed because of an IO failure. Also windows explorer likes to freeze when I go to "My Computer" again...it only happens when a card is in the SD slot. I tried it with another and the same things happened. That command for chkdsk simply gave me 'cannot open volume for direct access"King_County_Downy wrote:

It's probably the printer...I'm going to see if I can get it serviced... sigh
