I carpool with my mom. She works across the street. She has a crappy Elantra, but gets decent mileage. We're about 20 miles one way, so 40 total commute per day (60 on the days I go to school). When I go to school, I have to drive my shitty 94 Mercury Sable.

Nice!  Four or two doors?
Yea. That isn't too bad... They have that 'new' V-6.  Mine has the old inline 6.  With the 4.1 gearing I'm lucky to get 8mpg city, 11 hwy.
I stood in line for four hours. They better give me a Wal-Mart gift card, or something.  - Rodney Booker, Job Fair attendee.

I'm going to be in the market for a decent commuter once I have to start driving to work again when I move.

I'm going to push for the motorcycle with the spousal unit, but I don't think she'll go for it.

SHOULD get the 4 door, but it just isn't a jeep like that, so gotta get the 2 door.  Still kicking it around though.

Another one?

Should I paint "Free ice cream" on the new one? "Free candy" isn't working too well any more.

Push for the motorcycle?  Just do it.  My wife hates mine.  Hated the first one too..

The 4 door concept is from the old CJ scramblers.  There was a long underground outcry for it.  I drive a TJ, but would much rather be in a CJ.

She's not as vehemently anti-motorcycle as she used to be. I think I'm wearing her down.

I could just go out and buy one, but then that $6500 bike would turn into a $50k+ bike when you add in divorce costs. It's pure economics.

never liked the Scrambler and I am even leery of a new jeep. Nothing like a CJ

The MPG reading says currently 32 MPG (about, U.S.) in the dash. It could be much more, but my right foot is heavy.

Current gas prices ~ 1.20 €/l -> 1.60 $/l -> $6/Gallon.

$2, BAH!

Sorry Euro-pee-ons I forget that u don't get super sweet gas prices and have to resort to publick transportation/donkey carts.  So I m sure u pay like only 12 euros a liter or what ever the fuck u use for money and volume over in nobody gives a shit about land.  So if u wish to take part in this thread just pretend u r not being bent over at the pump or ur donkey/bus is ur car.
Nice stereotypical attitude you're displaying there. I will still tell you what the price of gas is in nobody gives a shit about land. It's $6/Gallon. I don't own a donkey cart. We use euros.

Those HHR's are actually really nice inside. My brother had one for a rental when some idiot pulled in front of him in the middle of a fairly busy street and he sideswiped her. Typical woman drivers.

Anyway, I'm so glad gas prices are down again. My car gets a whole 15mpg but I don't care because I love the damn thing. I have never driven a car as smooth as mine and it's fast to boot. Fortunately for me, both college and work is within a 3 mile drive so I can care less about gas. The only thing that kills me is I play hockey twice a week where one rink is 13 miles each way while the other is 28 miles each way. All in all, I pay roughly $35 every two weeks (using ultra 93) so it's still not a ridiculous amount for gas. If I get a job much further away, I'll probably have to look into getting a new car though.

My '99 Mk2 Toyota MR2 does me anything between 35-40mpg.
That depends if I gun it up the hills and overtake all the slow ass fucks on the way to work and back everyday

Perhaps not where you live, but the general pattern is high prices in the summer and low prices in the winter. As such, prices are increasing right now. 1.95 4 months ago, 2.30 now.
