Would it be worth the $40 dollars more for the HD 4890 card???
Would it really help enough to warrant that, or should I use that extra $40 on this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6835186134??

that all looks good... I would go for a bigger case though... the 300 is on the small side(heat may be an issue?)...
the antec 900 v2 is 120 bucks and the original 900 is 100 bucks...
a really great case with crazy airflow and behind the motherboard wire routing is the Coolermaster HAF 932... its 150 bucks....
I hear the 4850/4870 cards run kinda hot....  and the psu is very important... i havent heard anything good or bad about sapphire power... I use and have had great luck with antec PSU's...   I checked on the AMD proc and it gets good reviews...   I don't think the 4890 would be much faster... what size monitor and resolution do you have?    Oh yeah... i would switch to the 32 bit version of Vista... i have heard people have had issues with the vista 64 bit OS... maybe even get xp pro and upgrade to Win 7 in the fall...?

Different PSU. Enermax Modu82+ 625w.

And bigger case unless you absolutely must get that small.

And defo get a beefy CPU cooler.

I have 64 bit vista and its great. havent had a single problem.

Some 4870's run hot, depends what cooler they have (duh) mine never goes over 50C (and its overclocked), but a reference cooler is regularly up at 70-80C.

I would go for a bigger case, something like an Antec P182 (or P183) or maybe a Antec 902. Its not a low-end build, so don't buy a low-end case (that said the 300 is a great budget case)

And PSU as panzer mentioned.

Plug&Play Monitor currently, thinking about this: http://www.microcenter.com/single_produ … id=0307886
I am probably gonna go with 64 bit, I know several people who have it and have had no probs, so I think I will go with it.
I am looking into the suggested cases and checking to see if I have enough money

Ugh forget about that HP LCD and get Samsung T220 or similar instead.
And yes definately get 64bit OS. Or just acquire it.
And get a well-known PSU brand, you don't want to gamble with PSU.

Would the Antec 300 fit all the stuff?, cause I'm not sure if I could get the money to get the more expensive case. I also need some of the money that would go to the more expensive case for a new monitor.

I have a good monitor, but my family wants to keep the comp. I am typing this on right now for web surfing, word processing, other stuff. I guess that could be done on one of the old monitors we have (like late 90s-early 2000s huge things, about 18 inches deep).

Would it be conceivable to just get Antec 300???, or would it be absolutely necessary for more expensive like the 902(which is the one I would get if I can get together enough extra money).

Not sure if that videocard will fit properly. If it does it will be very crowded, thus creating air flow issues.

I prefer this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6811119137 but i'm not one of these tech gods.

If that one would be good, I could definitely come up with the money for it.

I might get this power supply:   http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6817139006

Try buying your TFT monitor from a shop where you can take it back if you have a pixel error.
Or a shop that sells an insurance for such a case.

I paid 15€ extra for a 30-day pixel error warranty, which turned out good, because I had one.
Although, they didn't have the same model to exchange, so I took a different one with the same specs.

About how long will this setup be good for tech wise??? (Like with only minor upgrades: more RAM, new Graphics card, etc...)

everything looks good... and i didn't mean to say 64 bit vista was really bad... i have just heard that there are some driver issues... that may be fixed by now... 64 bit is the way to go for the future...   I just put my build together tonight...q9400/8800gtx(given to me) may upgrade to 4870 in a couple of months...4gb corsair and 650 watt antec... I started it and it ran... but i cant install the OS because i cant find my dvi to vga adapter for my dinosaur crt...lol   no picture... no install... oh well...   and i agree with the others... a big case is very important... especially with the powerful heat producing things like the vid card and proc... airflow is king... the antec 900 is 99 bucks... the 900 v2 is 120 bucks
and the monster is the HAF932 coolermaster for 150 bucks...huge....  good luck either way and have fun...
go slow and dont forget to screw in a  motherboard standoff and have everything done including the vid card installed and all hd's and fans hooked up... oh wait... that was me...haha

Is this better than the other setup I posted, and if so, is it better to enough of a degree that it would warrant spending the extra $65???

I am thinking that it is, but wanted to get more opinions on it than just mine and a friend's.

This will probably last a little longer future wise, right, since it is DDR3 compatible and stuff???
